Spotted Rail

Continuing the series of Elis' photos from Brazil marking her absence from my side and my absence from her's in Brazil I have selected this shot of the Spotted Rail.

We had been tipped off by our good friend Frank in Campos do Jordao about this bird and took the first opportunity to try to see it.

This shot is especially pleasing to me as this was a lifer and crakes and rails are notoriously difficult to see, let alone photograph. A combination of luck, skill and tenacity (in pouring rain) eventually allowed Elis to get this shot.
