On a
Wader Quest jaunt to North Wales (more info on
www.waderquest.org) we had time, to look at other birds thanks to Alan and Ruth's (
The Biggest Twitch http://www.thebiggesttwitch.com/) excellent local knowledge leading to us getting our two target birds (Purple Sandpiper and Jack Snipe) relatively easily.

Our genial hosts, Alan and Ruth |
Among the many highlights of our trip was a moment of intimacy with a robin at Conwy RSPB reserve...
Passing the time of day with our small friend. |
Elis checking the robin's DNA |
... and a couple more close encounters with common birds;
Female Chaffinch
Blue Tit |
watching a Dipper singing its heart out on a rock in the middle of a stream in Llanfairfechan;
The singing Dipper |
admiring the swirling murmuration at the Conwy Starling roost.

Starling roost watching |
Starlings over the Conwy RSPB reserve |
All this took place among some stunning scenery.
Conwy Castle |
The beautiful Welsh hills |
Far from the madding crowd |

I've written a little article on our website called Bird Spotting Locations in North Wales. It would be great if more knowledgeable people, like yourself or your readers on here, could comment and perhaps add more locations in the Guest Book bit at the bottom. Thanks in advance.
