On a Wader Quest jaunt to North Wales (more info on www.waderquest.org) we had time, to look at other birds thanks to Alan and Ruth's (The Biggest Twitch http://www.thebiggesttwitch.com/) excellent local knowledge leading to us getting our two target birds (Purple Sandpiper and Jack Snipe) relatively easily.
Among the many highlights of our trip was a moment of intimacy with a robin at Conwy RSPB reserve...
... and a couple more close encounters with common birds;
watching a Dipper singing its heart out on a rock in the middle of a stream in Llanfairfechan;
admiring the swirling murmuration at the Conwy Starling roost.
All this took place among some stunning scenery.
