What I say about me.
I have been birding since I was very young, a picture of a Northern Lapwing in a book sparked my interest, and I knew I just had to see one! I haven't looked back since.
I spent much time watching my local patch in southern Hertfordshire, in the UK, until I was badgered into a twitch in 1984 and immediately became hooked. I continued twitching enthusiastically until 1992 when I had my first birding trip abroad, to the Everglades. From then on twitching faded and travelling became my preferred method of finding new birds.
Since then I have visited every continent on earth in search of birds, apart from Antarctica (which is firmly in my sights!). I had visited Brazil many times in the intervening years and I fell in love with the country, the birds and one of its women, she is now my wife, Elis. I have been living here since 2001, on and off, and have now moved to Ubatuba permanently.
I started guiding in the UK under the banner 'Capital Birding Tours' and spread my wings to include Spain on many occasions. In Brazil I have led a number of groups and individuals both privately and for bird tour companies, ranging from day trips to three-week tours.
Ubatuba is a wonderful place to live and bird, and I look forward to sharing my good fortune with you soon.
Rick.
