Site Notes for Brazil
My thanks go to Jeremy Minns for allowing me to host his site notes. These have become an essential part of any birder’s literature when visiting Brazil. Jeremy and I will be updating the notes as and when necessary/possible. So, if you have any comments or details you think should be included or corrected please feel free to contact either of us.

My thanks also must go to Arthur Grosset who previously hosted these notes for graciously letting me ‘inherit’ them. His site still remains a fascinating and attractive place to look for photos and information about, not just South American but, birds from many different parts of the world. These notes complement Bruce Forrester’s Birding Brazil, which is the best source of birding information for the country. The notes should be read in conjunction with Birding Brazil and a road map. Quatro Rodas’ Guía Rodoviário is recommended, available from most book-stalls in Brazil. At the same time buy Quatro Rodas’ Guía Brasil, a guide (in Portuguese) to hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions, with maps and general information. The last hotel listed for each town in the Guía Brasil is the cheapest and will be simple but adequate. You will find cheaper and lower quality places that are not listed.
The ‘notes’ format has been slightly changed, all sites are collected within the state name and not in regions as before; a list of which is under the orientation map below. Click on the name of the state in the list which interests you and you will be taken to the page with Jeremy’s notes for that state. I have deliberately not enhanced these pages with photographs to make it easier to copy and print.

I am coming to Brazil next month and will have from March 21-25 for birding in sse Brazil. Last year I birded at Serra dos Tucanos and years ago at Itatiaia NP, so I have a target list of many birds I still would like to see.
What would be your rates for guiding and targeting specific species for four days with cheapest accomodations possible?
