Caraça is best known for its famous tame Maned Wolves that come to the Monastery steps to be fed. Whilst this has a somewhat unnatural feel to it, it does provide the opportunity to see these beautiful animals close up. There is also the chance that a Striped Hog-nosed Skunk may put in an appearance. There is excellent birding to be had as well. Star birds include include Hyacinth Visorbearer, Serra Antwren,  Swallow-tailed Cotinga and Pale-throated Sierra-Finch.
